Socks are the perfect project for car knitting, so last summer when Alex drove us up to New York, I brought these in-progress socks along with us. (Yes, I'm posting a project I finished last summer. Heh.)
Pattern: Ribby Holiday Socks by Alicia Morandi (FREE pattern on Craftsy!)
Yarn: Twist Fiber Studio Pisgah Fingering in Oooh Girl
I bought this yarn at the WNC Farmer's Market Fiber Feel Day from a local dyer. You can go there and see all kinds of cute animals, plus feel different types of fiber and even buy yarn. (I did all those things!)
Mmmm, gross toe nails.
I finished the toe of the last sock in the Berkeley Hotel in Asbury Park, New Jersey, while Alex was busy posing for photos as part of a wedding party.
The weekend (and the whole trip, actually) was full of socializing with strangers, and for an introvert like me, taking a few moments to stitch socks was a welcome break from the insanity.
This pattern has a stitch repeat that's super easy to memorize. You can't see the purl ridges very well with this hand-dyed yarn, but if you really wanted to show off the texture you could use a lighter color.
The yarn color is just so cool, even when it's rolled up into a ball! I bought a couple of other colors there, too, but I don't have any plans for using them just yet.
