Lately I've been on a mission to use up as much of my yarn stash as possible. We had a very unexpected snow last weekend, leaving Alex and me unprepared and eating beans for two days.
I started this pom pom wreath weeks ago, but I hadn't finished it yet. I knew if I didn't finish it during the big snow, I'd have to wait until next year to display it. I was happy to sit and wrap pom poms while Alex and I watched Endeavour and Good Girls Revolt. (I highly recommend both.)
I started with a styrofoam wreath, then I wrapped white yarn around the entire wreath. When I made the pom poms, I left long tails on them and tied them to the yarn on the wreath.
I didn't fill in the back with pom poms, so that saved some time. I hot glued the pom poms together so they wouldn't flop around, then I hot glued the little animals to it.
It was fun fishing around for blue and white yarns in my stash. Some of these yarns were from half-finished projects I worked on when I first started knitting. It was fun to think about not only how far my knitting skills have advanced, but also how many more yarn choices and sources we have today.
