Birthday cow made and gifted to me by Jenn W. |
As any December baby will tell you, it's hard to have a birthday party during the holidays. Instead of competing with evening holiday parties, I decided to celebrate my December birthday with a little craft party, luring my friends by offering my hoard of craft supplies.
Jessica, Suzie (my leather craft party buddies), and Quynh decoupaged inexpensive ornaments with fabric scraps.
Quynh left her ornament at my place. Now it's mine! Heh heh. |
I'm a big fan of Craft-a-Day, and author Sarah Goldschadt's friend Laura happened to be at my party. We gave Sarah some Instagram love with this photo.
Meghan had never made a craft before, and she successfully used a screw punch to make a leather wrap bracelet. I was so proud of her. (Keep crafting, Meghan!)
The insane amount of supplies prompted some very random projects. Jessica poured a crapload of glitter paint over a jar right from my kitchen and let it drip. It took forever to dry, but it turned out sparkly and wonderful.
Julia glittered these little critters that Jenn A. brought to the party.
There was a whole lot of glittering going on.
Laura glittered some felt with the initials of her and her boyfriend. She wanted them to be small and flexible, since she packed them in her suitcase for her Christmas trip to Portugal. Compact celebratin'.
Katrina brought her Tunisian crochet project over to work on.
I can't think of a better way to celebrate my birthday than with all these lovely ladies. I'm so grateful to everyone who came and shared supplies and ideas. It felt like the apartment was busting with creativity even after the last guest left.
Now to carry that inspiration with me into 2013...
Happy New Year!
Ooh happy belated birthday! So many things going on at a single craft party!! I can't wait till you get here!!
