My friend Jessica came across a huge supply of leather and was nice enough to share it with our friend Suzie and me. We ordered pizza, listened to the Lemonheads, and thumbed through craft books for inspiration.
Suzie cut out different colors to make a flower, loosely based on the necklace on the cover of 30-Minute Necklaces. She also braided leather strips to make what kind of looked like a lanyard keychain from our crafty kid days.
We were inspired by a lot of jewelry projects, like Mystery-Braided Leather Cuff
and Camp-Inspired Leather Crafts.
Look at this lovely mess:
We used our leather and some blank barrettes from my mom's 80s stash to replicate a brown barrette from H&M (middle).
I cut the collar template in the foreground from 30-Minute Necklaces, but I didn't actually finish it.
Suzie brought this delish batch of blondies. The combination of eating and crafting made my leather smell like chocolate. Mmmmm.
I cut some clouds from the 30-Minute Necklaces book. The project in the book is for silver, but I used the templates and applied to leather. The edges need to be neatened, but otherwise I'm happy with how it turned out. (If you dig the clouds, click the Free Stuff tab on Lark Crafts to download the project.)
The three of us decided we need more themed craft nights in our lives -- and more blondies.
Have you ever hosted a themed craft night? I'd love some ideas!
Ok, that's one more reason you should move down here! We can host craft nights and have tons of fun!! But for now, I'd just live vicariously through your posts.
